Sights on Deer

Friday, October 31st, 2008

Deer are running around all over the place this time of year. We have to be very careful while driving at night to watch for the shining eyes along side the road in case there are a couple deer grazing and might get spooked by the car. Of course, when you want to find them they make themselves scarce. There are a few favorite spots that I’ll go deer hunting south of here. I don’t use a tree stand, I just walk and look for signs. This year I’d like to take a nice pair of binoculars with me.

A pair of Nikon Monarch ATB have caught my eye. Nikon Monarch and Trailblazer Binoculars among the very best to take hunting, and they are running a special promo on these – just in time for deer season. You can save $25 – $50 when you buy the binoculars because you get a gift card, so there’s even more incentive to upgrade from the old cheap ones to good Nikon ATBs.

Crash and the deer

Monday, October 27th, 2008

Our dog Crash went to the bank with me today and he had a boat load of excitement, as we pulled into the bank he spotted a huge deer in the field behind the bank, and on our way home he got to bark at cows and sheep, quite a bit of excitement for a little dog who does not get out as much as he would like. If he got his way he would be able to run loose to bark and pester everything that he sees. But he has to stay either in the house or on a leash when he does get outside and you can tell he hates to be cooped up and he lets us know every chance he gets.

Truck in the shop

Tuesday, October 21st, 2008

We had to put the Tahoe in the shop this week to do some little annoying stuff that really was not worth a trip to the shop, but it needed to be fixed before it got worse and needed real attention. It seems that every time we get a little bit ahead we have a vehicle break down and have to take it to the shop. Every time we put something in the shop it costs about $800 to fix no matter what it is. This trip should be a lot less than that but you can never tell with auto shops. Let us hope this is the last trip to the shop for this year we are way over budget for auto repairs for this year.

Christmas show

Saturday, October 18th, 2008

It seems a bit early to me ti be thinking about Christmas, but the kids have begun their preparation of their school Christmas show that their middle school puts on every year. The list of items needed for the Christmas show is growing every day and right now it includes the Christmas Costumes that the kids will be wearing during this years Christmas show.

We have found a great site to get the Christmas costumes from, it is the very same site that we bought this years Halloween costumes from, Halloween Adventure has a wonderful web site that has a great selection of all kinds of holiday costumes including a very nice inventory of Christmas costumes to choose from.

I really like the holidays especially Halloween and Christmas, it lets the children have fun and us adults can have a bit of fun at the same time. I know that the costumes for this nice little show will be for the kids to enjoy but we have had a lot of fun being involved in the selection process, and even looking at the different costumes on the Halloween Adventure web site has given me several ideas for parties in the upcoming year.

Big river

Thursday, October 16th, 2008

Nashville has a huge rive, The Cumberland River that cuts through the downtown area of town. Through the years it has flooded a few times been low very seldom and as a whole it keep rolling on down the line. It has claimed a few lives of people who fell in, jumped in or in a few cases were pushed in, After growing up in western Oklahoma where rivers are few and far between, with little if any water in them except right after the rare rain, I have learned to appreciate the rivers that are out here. I love to sit and watch the water flow by and think about where it will wind up, makes a lazy day on a river bank more than a fishing trip.
