Over Easter dinner I do believe that we have talked my parents into having one of those home energy auditors come over to their house and do what they are trained to do in order to make sure that their home is as energy efficient as it can be and hopefully come up with some affordable energy saving solutions for the to use. Last year they were cold all winter (and it was a mild winter here) and their heating bill all most put them in the poor house.

I’m sure that insulation is a key issue in their home, so a home insulation contractor most likely will need to get involved and I’d be willing to bet that their ancient windows will be an issue and that they really should invest in some of today’s more energy efficient windows as well. I’m curious as to what else will be recommended and I’m sure that this is just the beginning of a long process in making sure our aging parents are up and running and functioning to their best ability, with a little love and patience from the rest of the family.
