Broken Vacuum

When I was a kid, buying a vacuum was a big deal because they were very expensive. My mom bought an Electrolux canister vacuum and that machine was treated like gold. I think in today’s dollars it would have cost about $1,000 and she insisted on buying the very best.

When we got this house we bought a new vacuum because it has carpet in every room but the bathroom and the kitchen. Se we got a Hoover and spent almost $300 on that thing. It is self propelled and has all kinds of attachments.

So today, it quit working. I don’t know what the heck is wrong with it and I am trying to decide if I should even bother taking it to get repaired or just buy a  new one.

Backyard Wonderland

The two rain chains that were presented by me to my mother on Mother’s Day have been a bit hit with her and my Dad. During this heat wave most of us have been trying to stay inside in the air conditioning but they have been toughing it out and still spending most of their time out back in the yard and the gardens, taking care of business, as they are fond of saying.

My folks really have a great backyard that they have worked their buns off throughout these many years to turn it into a “wonderland” that they spend so much time in these days, both of them being retired now. So the idea of a rain chain really appealed to me to give to them and I am really tickled that they seem to enjoy a gift for once. They aren’t the easiest people to buy presents for so when I hit a home run I have to run with it as much as I can. These chains rain are really getting popular and the varieties that they come in are amazing. I just might have to start buying some to use as Christmas presents, since it will be Christmas in less than 6 months, sigh…..
