The traffic today was horrible on my way home tonight I saw five accidents just in the twenty two miles that I traveled. Out of the five wrecks that I saw, four of them included red cars. I have written before about the link between bad drivers and red cars, I feel that as soon as you sit in a red car your IQ drops twenty-five points, add in using a cell phone and a wreck is sure to happen. Drive safely and do not buy red cars.

On my truck I have two headlights on each side and last night at work not one headlight burned out but both on one side within ten minutes of each other. I have never had both lights on one side burn out within minutes of each other it was pretty amazing. My string of luck continues with my truck when one thing goes wrong enough things have to be wrong so the guys at the shop can charge me $800 that seems to be the magic total. Every time I have to take a vehicle to the shop it costs me $800. I guess they need that much to make a payment or something. The one exception was when I took the truck in for an oil change and an air filter and that cost me almost $100, I have not been back to Firestone and I never will go back there.

I got the most pathetic email from one of my nieces begging me to help her get her dream car financed for her. She is currently out of work, lives at home and has serious bad credit issues for someone of her young age. Her folks haven’t got the kind of money that is needed to help put a decent down payment on any type of car, much less this dream car that she has fixated her self on recently. Times are hard, people are losing the jobs, their 401k’s, their homes, not the best of times for looking for family members to help bail you out. We are all feeling the pinch, people are scared and rightfully so, with the economy in the toilet, with no end in sight.

I would rather come to her aid with a plea from her in assisting with “help me fix my credit” issues, that would be an easier request at this point. If she were to try and finance a decent vehicle in these times, I’m sure that she will be stuck with an extremely high interest rate, one that would set her up for failure from day one. She needs to buckle down and get a job and learn how to fix credit reports and earn her dream car the old fashioned way, with a little blood, sweat and tears, instead of dealing with best credit repair service issues at this point.

Just read a report that cars that have bumper stickers are much more likely to be involved in road rage incidents. The larger the number of bumper stickers the higher the chance they will be involved. Factor in the color, red cars are much more likely to be involved, add the use of cell phones to the mix and you get road rage times ten. It is almost not safe to go out on the road anymore. Better to stay home and knit than venture out to work.

I have discovered a show that I love to watch, The Ice Road Truckers comes on the History Channel and I love it we caught the marathon for last years shows before the new season started and we are hooked. It is a great show with enough color to keep my interest for an hour. The characters are very feisty and rough it makes for a really fun show to watch, it is the only show that we set in stone to watch. I am going to order the first season and watch all of it again while I am watching the second season.

In our delivery business we have one very significant problem, we deliver newspapers at night, so finding addresses that are not well marked is a huge problem. In some of the neighborhoods we deliver into this problem haunts us nightly.

In our business the inability to locate an address in the darkness of night can be very frustrating and this great light will help us to combat that. With our business being a delivery service we use vans to do most of the hauling of the newspapers. Using vans can be a bit expensive including the cost of the vans and the fact that they use more gas than the smaller vehicles, but vans save us a lot in the fact that they haul more and for the most part vans are very dependable.

One variable that is common with all the vehicles we use is car insurance, no matter if it is a van or a car you need to have good insurance and finding good van insurance is not as easy as it sounds. Van Insurance can be very expensive if you do not find a good insurance carrier.

It seems every time it rains my windshield wipers quit working, then amazingly they will start by them selves and then stop again. Get in the truck with no rain in sight and they work fine. I think my truck is haunted. It has some other nasty habits but the windshield wipers are the most annoying one for sure.

I love my truck but if I can not get the windshield wipers fixed I may have to get rid of her can not be going on a road trip and have the wipers not work.

On the way into town on Friday, 11-11-11, I just had too stop and say thank you, take a picture, and shake the hand of this dedicated Veteran who does this every Veteran’s Day from dusk until dawn. Something I will never, ever forget and hope that he continues to do this for years to come. God Bless America and least I forget to say “Welcome Home” to all the Vietnam Vets that were never told those two simple words!

Walking around my car last night I thought the tires looked a little low. The tread on the tires is really good – I have only had these tires for a little over 2 years. So I drove up to the gas station and had to pay a dollar to use their air hose. I was able to get 3 of the 4 tires filled with air before the dollar ran out. The 4th one is not so bad that I wanted to spend another dollar on just that one. But I wonder why they had gotten so low on air in the first place?

I have a car that I love but the transmission went out in it a couple of years ago. So I parked it in the back of my house until I can get some money together to fix the transmission. If you have ever dealt with a transmission shop, you know that its going to be expensive and you have to go there with a big wad of cash in your hand, because they are going to squeeze it all out of your tightly clenched fist.

Life being what it is, there is always some kind of major expense raising its ugly head to try and keep me broke. I can’t seem to get that extra money together for the life of me. But I don’t want to sell this car – it is a classic T-Bird and we have driven cross country several times in it. I have too many good memories over the years to just junk a car that only needs a new transmission to get back on the highway.

So I got a notice in the mail from the County Government that my car is in violation of their zoning laws and I have thirty days to fix it – OR ELSE!

Now, what business is it of the Government that, despite me working my fingers to the bone and trying to make a living, I can’t scrape together $3,000 to fix my car right now? Maybe I’ll have to wait until Spring when I get my next tax refund check. It’s not like the banks are beating a path to my door to give me a loan to pay the transmission repair shop. The car is not hurting anybody. It is parked in the back of my house and you cannot see it from the street. There is nothing wrong with it except for a transmission problem.

So who are “they” to tell me I have thirty days to fix my car?

Look at what it cost me for gas today. This didn’t even fill it up. The pump cut off because the gas station will not authorize sales over $100 unless you are paying cash, in advance.

Today I pulled a stupid human trick, I had to get out of the house early to get some work done and back in time to get my computer work done and in my rush out the door I forgot to check and see how much gasoline was in the truck. To make a long boring story shorter I ran out of gasoline half way to town and my wife had to bring me a can of gas.  It was amazing how understanding and gracious she was about it all.  I guess the next time my hubby pulls a boner like that I’ll have to keep my mouth shut!

At some point in our lives each of us has lost something we needed or cherished, today I lost my keys and I never knew how lost I was without my keys, at every turn I needed a key and had to ask someone to get me that key and it was a pain in the you know where. I found them about 5 pm just as I was about to head home. Of course after I called my hubby to bring me the spare keys, you never find what is missing until you do not need it any more. I am going to get a carabiner clip to hang my keys keys on one of my belt loops because I have found out how much you miss them if they are not where they are supposed to be.

While this guy was looking for a way to cure his own cancer by trying out a radio wave generator that he created one day while tinkering in the kitchen, he was able to burn salt water.

Basically his radio wave generator releases the oxygen and hydrogen in salt water and makes an intense flame. Since the world is mostly covered in salt water this type of new fuel would be the best type of clean fuel for the world.
