Student Loans

As it has been many, many years since I was in college, and I remember that student loans were the main reason I was able to go to college and I really appreciate the fact that student loans were there to help me. Now that my own children are getting ready to start their college experience I am so very glad there is still a great student loan program for them to use when they are ready to start school.

We have started looking for different student loan programs to get a feel for what is available and what we have found amazes me. Credit Loans has a great web site that has so very much information, it was almost overwhelming at first to see that much information on one site.

This fine web site was able to give me answers to all of my questions about student loans and to help my daughter decide which kind of student loan she would need this fall when she goes to college. The lowdown on student loans, was the most helpful section and encouraged me to go ahead and apply for a student loan for myself and to finish my degree that has been hanging for 26 years. I really want to thank this fine program for helping both of us get set up for our student loans and thanks for having such a great web site.

School Days

It’s too bad that I wasn’t interested in History back in the days of my formal education. The old saying of “youth is wasted on the young” certainly holds true in this case. What I wouldn’t give to be able to go back to school and really take advantage of all that an education – especially in History could and can provide me.

I was telling my mom the other day that I really would like to go back to school and she is urging me to go ahead and give it a try. Well easier said then done at this point in my life, so many obstacles are in the way. Time is an issue, and although I know that you can take classes online I think that I would be better in a formal classroom situation. And of course money is a big issue as well.

My mother was telling me of all the financial aid information that is available right online, she even tells me that there is help for left handed students which is way cool since I am left handed. She is going to send me a couple of links to some websites that she was telling me about with this type of information for me to take a look at. I’m getting excited just thinking about going back to school. Where there is a will there is a way, right?

Sexual Harassment Videos

One thing that I really loved about working for Nationwide Insurance so many years ago was all of the training that they provided us. Most of it took place at the Regional Office which was over fours away, so that meant that we were usually put up in a hotel and were provided with an expense account which was always such a blast for me and the other employees that I drove down with. I just loved the idea of spending a night away from home in a nice hotel and being able to eat out instead of having to do the cooking myself. A mini vacation for a working mother such as myself.

These days the Internet has made it possible to keep employees from having to travel so much by bringing a lot of training right to them, saving companies a good amount of money along the way. Now a days there are sites like securityawarenesstraining.com that have everything that you need for employees to learn about all kinds of awareness training. They even have sexual harassment videos through this site, and we all know how important sexual harassment training is in today’s work place.

But what they really need is to really take action on people that are still continuing to sexual harass others at work. My oldest daughter seems to find herself being harassed at every place she finds employment. Trying to prove this behavior isn’t easy and she always ends up leaving while the idiots still continue on making money and taking advantage of girls/women. Managers are crooked, video tapes get lost or erased and the abuse just keeps on keeping on, a sad state of affairs. If my daughter wasn’t legally an adult at this point you can bet I’d be sticking my nose into and lighting some fires under some hind ends.

Credit Card Ratings and Reviews

Came across an interesting site this afternoon about credit cards called Credit Card Club. This site provides credit card ratings and reviews on all the popular credit cards. They have categories for the different credit cards including:

  • Low Interest Credit Cards
  • No Annual Fee Credit Cards
  • Balance Transfer Credit Cards
  • Cash Back Credit Cards
  • 0% Intro APR Credit Cards
  • Business Credit Cards
  • Bad Credit Credit Cards
  • Airline Rewards Credit Cards
  • Gas Rewards Credit Cards
  • Instant Approval Credit Cards
  • Student Credit Cards
  • Prepaid Credit Cards

I read their helpful article on how to know which type of credit card to use. It covers the types of fees and advantages of each different type of credit card. I didn’t realize that there is so much to learn about credit cards until I read the articles on the Credit Card Club website. They have dozens of informative articles and every adult who uses credit should read through these to educate themselves on the advantages and pitfalls of using credit cards. In today’s world – who doesn’t need to learn a few things about credit?

Friday the 13th

I find it interesting that so many people have a real fear of Friday the 13th, some people will not even leave their home on that day! I have never had an issue with any Friday the 13th but it seems that a lot of folks have some pretty freaky stories to share about things that have happened on a Friday the 13th. This year we have 3 months that give us a Friday that falls on the 13th, January, April and July.

Did you know that the longest period that can occur without a Friday the 13th is fourteen months, either from July to September the following common year (e.g. between 2001–02, 2012–13, and 2018–19), or from August to October the following leap year (e.g. between 1999-2000 or 2027–28).
