De-Cluttering

Several years ago I found a pretty cool website that gave me the opportunity to sell some of my old movies, DVDs only. The way it worked is that with the money that you banked from the sales of your DVDs could be used to purchase used DVDs from their site, which worked out really well. Unfortunately the laptop that I was using back then crashed and I lost everything that was on it. Losing the Bookmarks really hurt and I had a difficult time finding tons of the sites that I had Bookmarked along the years. Of course that particular site was one of the many that are long gone and only a memory.

Anyway I have been doing some de-cluttering round the place and realized how many movies we have accumulated again throughout the years. Ones that we have watched over and over and really don’t stand a chance of ever being viewed again by anyone in this house, ones that certainly won’t be missed and no one would lose any sleep over not having around anymore. I figured there must be other websites that assist in the process of getting rid of DVDs and the like, other than eBay. I just don’t like eBay or Craigslist for that matter and would prefer not to hold a yard sale or set up at a flea market just to get rid of some old movies.

For years now I’ve been strolling down memory lane, looking at pictures of my old friends from school. I came across one picture in particular and it hit me. I used to be in a band my friends and I had put together while in school, and I instantly wanted to get the old band together again after all these years.

I had called around to see if everyone wanted to get together and try to play again like old times. Everyone was thrilled and excited to hear that I wanted to get the old band back together, and visit each other after all this time. I had asked everyone if they had their old instruments, knowing my old guitar was stuffed away in a storage unit my Mother has been renting for a few years.

I called my Mom and asked if she could come along with me to the storage unit to look for my old guitar and to my surprise she would meet me there in an hour. After ripping and tarring the unit apart, I had finally found my old guitar. My strings needed replacing for sure, so I went on home after putting everything back and sat down at my computer to look around on the net for classic electric guitar strings. In no time I found an awesome site that offered the best strings for an unbelievable price.

Needless to say when I got my guitar ready and everyone was here, we jammed out and had a great visit.

Finding the best monster cables to give to my nephew for his graduation gift this, yes we are all ready looking at graduations for the school year 2012/2013 in the family, has taken me more time that I expected. You see I just want to avoid any hassles with returns or shipping issues or anything that could possibly go wrong with an online order. Don’t get me wrong, I love how the Internet has made shopping for any product or service a much easier task to tackle, but I’ve been having issues with the last couple of orders and I guess I’m getting a bit gun shy.

I did do most of my holiday shopping online this year. Didn’t miss the crowds at the local mall one bit! What I have really taken to the whole idea and concept of gift cards lately. Which is the path I am thinking I am going to take for this particular purchase. That way the heat is off of me and he can make sure he gets what he wants and needs at that time. I’ll be seeing him either over Easter or Memorial Day, well before graduation day gets here and give it to him at that time. Works for me!
