I’ve decided to go ahead with my first plan of buying my mother a spice rack for Christmas. Her old wall spice rack fell and broke into a million pieces a few months ago, what a mess that was! Now I don’t proclaim to know a whole heck of a lot about spice racks, but I’ve been taking a bit of time and looking around online and I’ve seen a few kitchen spice racks that I think she would welcome into her kitchen.

My mother is one of the best cooks around and she really depends on her spices. I’m not sure why she hasn’t replaced the broken one, except that maybe she knew it would be a good gift idea for someone to get for her for Christmas, much like I plan to do. My mother is a hard one to buy presents for, so this is the perfect opportunity for me to get her something that she really needs and hopefully will use for a very, very long time to come.

How does it seem that we always hear about movie stars and athletes that carry guns to the airport and get caught. How does someone with normal intelligence not remember that they happened to have a gun in the one bag they choose to carry on the airplane. The list of people who had this stupid moment in their lives is huge. John Smith of Nowhere USA does not try to carry a gun on the plane why do the celebrities think they get a pass on this law.

Today would be perfect to be on the lake in a sail boat. Only one problem we do not have a sail boat. I would love to have a nice sail boat but that would mean that I would need to learn to sail a boat and at my age I am not sure if I could even learn to do that! I mean as you get older it tends to be harder to learn some things! On a more serious note I would love to learn to sail a boat I think it would be a lot of fun and something that is on my bucket list.

One of the best things about having the Tennessee Titans train here in Nashville is they allow the public to attend most of the practices at Baptist Sports Park. I have gone as much as having a full time job will allow and it is a very fun place to take my seven year old grandson. David loves the football players and has been to a few games but I think the most fun he has is when he goes to one of the practices there is so much activity it boggles the mind.

The best part of spring to me is the start of the baseball season. No matter how bad your team is that one day everyone is tied for first place and has a shot at the World Series. As I have gotten to old to play even softball any more I spend a lot more time watching baseball games.

One of the things that I really miss in the winter is lemonade. This springtime special is not as tasty in the winter you just do not feel like having lemonade when it is cold outside, hot tea and hot chocolate are a lot more winter time treats to me at least. I really love spring and all the special things that are better in the warm seasons including lemonade. Baseball and lemonade are two of my favorite spring time treats.

The Super Bowl is Sunday I can not wait for the match up of the Pittsburgh Steelers and my team the under dog Arizona Cards. I have waited my whole adult life to see the Cards in the Super Bowl and this weekend my dreams come true. I am so very happy thet my low rated team made the Super Bowl it has made one of the items on my bucket list come true, now I can scratch off this one.

You know this is a dream come true for me and all the other 48 Arizona Cards fans in the world.

3 of the 4 football games played this weekend the underdogs won. The only favorites to win were the Pittsburgh Steelers all of the others including my team the Tennessee Titans lost. I have one dog left in the hunt my Arizona Cardinals won their game big against the Carolina Panthers yesterday and they will host their second playoff game this year on Sunday against the Eagles. Good thing I did not bet on the games I would of lost my butt. The only one I picked right was the Cardinals game and that was just because they are my team.

Today 3 head coaches in the National football league got the ax and I figure some more will be whacked as soon as tomorrow. The firing of the Jets head coach surprised me a bit he had a 9-7 record but did not make the playoffs, bottom line is make the playoffs or else. Romeo in Cleveland never did turn that team around and his firing was not a huge shock. In Detroit I wonder why they waited so long to fire that idiot. Denver’s Head Coach might be the next in line they collapsed and did not make the playoffs this year after being 3 games ahead with 3 to play. Tune in later to see who else is in the unemployment line this week.

My High School that I attended in Oklahoma I just found out is playing in the state finals in football. The last time I talked to my sister the team was in turmoil and did not look very good and then today she springs on me that the team is in the state finals, I was flabbergasted. I am very proud of the football team at Lavern Oklahoma and I would really like to be there to cheer them on but it will just have to be in spirit, Nashville is a very long ways to travel for a football game.

Deer are running around all over the place this time of year. We have to be very careful while driving at night to watch for the shining eyes along side the road in case there are a couple deer grazing and might get spooked by the car. Of course, when you want to find them they make themselves scarce. There are a few favorite spots that I’ll go deer hunting south of here. I don’t use a tree stand, I just walk and look for signs. This year I’d like to take a nice pair of binoculars with me.

Our home team the Tennessee Titans have run their record to 4-0 for the very first time in franchise history. The defense a good kicker and a smart quarterback are the main reasons the team is soaring to these lofty heights. Let me throw into the equation the best coach in the National Football League. Jeff Fisher always finds a way to get the most out of his teams and this team seems to be ready to follow him to the end of the earth if that was what he wanted. This is how the 1999 team was and that team made it all the way to the super bowl and came up a yard short of winning the thing. I get the feeling that this team is on the same path if they keep their noses to the grindstone good things can come of this 2008 season for this team.

So far this very young football season has been very good to my teams, the two pro teams I follow both won their first games, both Tennessee and Arizona won divisional games and are on top of their divisions. It is very early but when could I say that in any other year? I follow the two Oklahoma teams very closely and one local team here in Nashville and all three teams are undefeated, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Vanderbilt, man that has never happened. I am on a roll and I hope it continues to be that way, A very good season is brewing for my teams.

The Olympics start in 2 days and I fear I will miss a lot of the action this year due to work. I have watched every Olympics since 1968. I have not missed much in that time I used to video tape the days action and then watch it later on. I do not have a recorder at this time so that is not an option, I wish they had it on demand so I could watch it later on. I keep up with the results in the newspaper and online so I at least know who wins and what is going on while I am working. A lot of great performances will be missed by me this year and it makes me very sad.

Training starts for the Tennessee Titians tomorrow and I for one can not wait to see what kind of a team Jeff Fisher puts together. I foresee a hold out for Albert Hanesworth, I do not see him coming to camp on time, I do not think it will be a huge distraction for the team he is hurt so often they are used to playing with out him in the lineup. The only draft pick the team has not signed is top pick Chris Johnson, I do not think he will be very long coming to camp he can not afford to miss the practice time. Football season is getting close and I am very happy.
