Previous Olympic Games

Hard to believe that in just a bit more than a month’s time the 2012 Olympics are scheduled to start over in our Mother Country – London, England. I know several people that are planning on flying over there to attend what they can while they can. Who knows maybe I’ll catch a glimpse of one of them during the time that I will have to watch these traditional games that will be televised over here for us to enjoy. Most folks have had their plans tended to and organized for quite some time now since waiting for the last minute would just be foolish at a huge event such as this. I understand that majority of the rented London Apartments are pretty much booked up at this point. But I also assume that some London Apartments will become available as some folks back out of their plans and reservations for various reasons that happen in life.

I found this list online of the dates of the Olympics that have been held that I found interesting. It seems that these Olympics have successfully been every four years except one time back in 1908, when it was held in London, England for the first time. It wasn’t held again until 1916 when it was held in Berlin. Never knew that.

Shopping Bonanza

I have found a shopping bonanza at eComparison, they have anything and everything you could be looking for on your trip to England, including XL Airways, Green Flag, Vanquis Bank, Resorthoppa, and tickets to Butlins park.

Check out their web site at Ecomparison.co.uk to do all of your travel needs. Butlins is a wonderful park to take the family on vacation. And with the Olympics being held in London his year is just icing on the cake.

Three Weeks In England

Speaking of the up and coming Olympics, I just got word that our wonderful neighbors, the Dunns, have found some great London Apartments to rent while they are over in England for their 3 week vacation that they have both earned for all of their hard work last year at the factory that they both work at. These are good people that I am so thrilled to have as neighbors. I’ve never had a “good neighbor” before, I’ve always seemed to be stuck with the rough, rude and raunchy ones every where I’ve lived, so they are a true blessing.

Anyway they have relatives over in the U.K. but they didn’t want to impose on any of them for a place to stay during their time over there, so the search has been on for them looking for the perfect London Apartments for them to stay in. Of course the Internet has been a tremendous help, but folks have been reserving places for this exciting event so it does take a bit of time and patience at this point to get just what you want for the price you want. So I’m glad that they have finally found what they have been looking for and move on with all of the other arrangements that are going to be taken care of.

I’ve promised to watch their house and property, feed their outdoor cats, bring in their mail and the newspaper, all the neighborly stuff that folks do for each other, when they can get along that is.

Location, Location, Location

The buzz these days is all about the up and coming summer Olympics that are being held in London England this year. I enjoy the summer Olympics so much more than the winter ones, but I really don’t watch all that much since watching a sport on TV just doesn’t hold a candle to watching one live and in person. The best parts of any of the Olympics are the opening ceremony and the closing ceremony.

There is so much to do in an attempt to out do the previous opening ceremony so you can always count on a real extravaganza to start the games in style. And then of course the closing ceremony is always a very emotional ceremony that I can’t help but get a bit choked up with my American Pride as well as my respect for each and every contestant and country that participated in these extreme sports that they live for and dedicate their lives to.

Of course England couldn’t be happier to host this multi-billion dollar event. People have been preparing for this for quite some time. There are still flats to rent but I wouldn’t want to wait too much longer to get my accommodations lined up. The Internet is the only way to go right now with finding flats for rent in Glasgow or flats for rent in Edinburgh and of course the whole surrounding area that people are going to be lodging and eating and spending their money for all the other things that one tends to spend on during festive times such as the Olympics.

I really wish that I could find a way to attend this year’s summer Olympics. I’ve always wanted to visit England, I have a lot of family history in that area. And as I said – I enjoy watching sporting events live instead of the television and I don’t care how big the darn screen is. So to be able to watch the numerous Olympic games that I would enjoy seeing right there in the midst of all of the bright lights and the excitement would be just awesome.
